Obiano urges youth to shun cultism, violence

Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has advised youths to shun cultism, violence and other vices which he said impede development.
Obiano, who made the appeal at the 2020 symposium entitled Youth Engagement for Global Action, organised by the state government as part of activities marking the international youth day, disclosed that his government was building the youngsters to join hands in moving the state forward.
The governor, speaking through the Commissioner, Ministry of Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, Prof. Theresa Obiekezie, revealed that his administration has between November 2018 to August 2020 trained over 700 youth in different skills such as confectioneries, event management, computer management and software application, POP, tiling and interlocking, cosmetology, and solar installation.
“Last year, governor Willie Obiano launched a programme that focused on discovery and targeting talented youths with technovation skills, exposing them to companies and individuals that may wish to invest in their talents and skills with a view to reduce unemployment. This has already covered 12 Local Government Areas," he added.
In separate lectures, Dr Ikechukwu Umeh and Engr. Emeka Aniedu enjoined youths to discover and build their skills, and get involved in diverse opportunities within their localities, while urging the government and humanitarians to empower youth to do exploits in their areas of endeavours.
