As the clamour for an Igbo man to produce the next President of the country continuous, stakeholders of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) across 21 Local Government Area in Anambra state, have implored the erstwhile Chief Judge of the State, Prof. Peter Umeadi to join the presidential race.
The APGA leaders, comprising LGA Chairmen and others, led by Chief Livinus Onyenwe, said they would rally round him to secure the party Presidential ticket and further defeat presidential candidates of other political parties.
Speaking during their visitation to Umeadi at Nri, Anaocha LGA of Anambra state, Chief Onyenwe, said “Prof Umeadi is a quality product that would be easily marketed by APGA to the rest of the country. His status and excellent record in public service will be the selling point of the party, in the race for 2023 presidency.”
Similarly, the chairman of APGA in Idemili North LGA, Chief Festus Onwurah expressed joy that the party, which is the third largest political party in Nigeria, is determined to present a quality candidate for the 2023 presidency, and we will support him to get the party's nomination".
His counterpart from Anaocha LGA, Barr Ndubuisi Obiadi said since the entrance of the former Chief Judge to APGA, the party has witnessed the influx of influential personalities in area, who were attracted by the good pedigree of the eminent jurist.
According to him, "the party will achieve significant electoral gains in the next general election, if it presents Prof Umeadi as its presidential flag bearer".
Responding, Prof Peter Umeadi appealed to the local government party leaders to continue to work for the success of the party in all elections by ensuring internal democracy, party supremacy and sanctity of the ballot.
