The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said it would spring surprises by not allowing moneybags to dictates its choice of a standard flag bearer on Anambra state 2021 gubernatorial poll.
Anambra State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu, disclosed this while receiving an aspirant, Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, who was at the party’s secretariat in Awka, to officially inform the executive of his intention to grab the party ticket.
Nwobu, who maintained that the PDP governorship primary would be free and fair, urged aspirants to seek support from statutory delegates and other members of the party, explained that the power belongs to people not the rich nor the most influential.
He further advised aspirants to refrain from campaign of calumny and other electoral offences, while soliciting support, as they are undemocratic.
The Chairman also sued for peace and harmonious relationship with all aspirants, so as to enable the eventual flag bearer of PDP easily defeat other political party candidates.
“I am still assuring you that the primary election is going to be free and fair. You have the list of statutory delegates. You know our party members. Take your campaign to them. They are those to present you with the party ticket. The power belong to them not to any individual. It is not for the rich. We need unity to go into the election. So, don not engage into any form of campaign of calumny. If anyone engage you in campaign of calumny, don’t respond to him too,” the State PDP boss added.
Earlier, the governorship aspirant, Chief Ugochukwu Okeke, appreciated the party officials, noting that he was ready to accept the outcome of the PDP governorship primary, as well as to support the winner to come out successfully at the poll.
