A philanthropist, Mrs Irene Anibogwu has enjoined women to engage on entrepreneurial works capable of making them self reliant and employers of labour.
Anibogwu, who gave the advice while empowering a total of 70 widows and a Biafra war veteran at Okuzu Umuezegbogu village in Oba, Idemili North LGA of Anambra state, explained that current economic challenges have made it expedient for women to discover and develop their skills for betterment of society.
The wife of the traditional Prime Minister of Obosi community, Chief Austin Anibogwu, represented at the occasion by her sister, Miss Charity Nwabam, averred that women were more organised and positioned to succeed in all their useful endeavours.
On empowerment materials she gave to widows, the philanthropist said it was aimed at helping them to survive the post coronavirus era and health challenges been faced by some of them.
A-73-year old lieutenant colonel in Biafra war, Mr Samuel Ufondu, who was gifted with wheelchair and monetary cash, thanked his benefactor, noting that the kind gesture would help him relieve some of the pains occasioned by his amputated legs.
Other beneficiaries, Mrs Nkoli Samuel, and Mrs Nnonye Obi, promised to utilise the funds and trainings garnered so far in building their businesses and agriculture for self sustenance and societal growth.
