The National President, Community Newspaper Publishers Association of Nigeria CONPAN, High Chief Monday Wehere JP has joined millions of Nigerians in condemning the recent attack on the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, which left three policemen dead during a town hall meeting with his Isuofia community youths at their Civic Center in Aguta Local Government Area of Anambra State, describing the attack and killing of his security aides as barbaric, uncivilized and worrisome.
Chief Wehere in a press statement dated 1st April, 2021, duly signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Comrade Nweke Nweke, the CONPAN leader while sympathizing with Prof Soludo on the trauma he went through during the attack, also commiserated with the families of the slain security agents, Nigeria police civil force and the nation by extension.
CONPAN boss however sue for the immediate review and reorganizion of the nation's security architecture, which according to him could provide adequate protection of lives and property of the citizens.
Calling on all rural dwelling media houses in Nigeria to keep updating the citizenry on the daily happenings within their base, Chief Monday Wehere also calls on the Security Chiefs to always partner with CONPAN, considering the fact that his members are grassroot oriented information gathering media practitioners and remains in better position to reach the most remote areas fast and with accurate information.
"It is now very important that the Security Chiefs in Nigeria should come up, sit and brainstorm with all state executive of the CONPAN on away to assist in the information gathering network. My members are living in the most remote areas and should have much to contribute towards nipping the current nation's security challenges in the bud", Chief Wehere demanded.
Urging Nigerians to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement around their vicinity to the security agencies for prompt response, the CONPAN leader said he is worry because the security challenges has added more threats to the socio-economic challenges the nation is facing today.
"CONPAN as a responsible body is deeply concerned about the negative impact the nation is facing today and this has posed against peace, progress of the entirety called Nigeria. I hereby call for immediate response on immediate reorganizion of the nation's security network," the CONPAN's first class citizen affirmed.
Chief Wehere also demanded for thorough investigation cum prosecution of all that have hands in the barbaric act even as he charged all security agents in Anambra State to redouble their efforts, aimed at rescuing the abducted Commissioner for Public Utilities, Hon. Emeka Ezenwanne who was abducted at the political event.
