Anambra 2021: SDP National Vice Chairman emerges guber candidate, vows to prioritise Agriculture, others

The Social Democratic Party (SDP), Tuesday, elected its Vice National Chairman, Chief Arinze Ekeleme as the standard bearer of the party for the Anambra State November 6 governorship election.
Ekeleme polled 111 votes to emerge unopposed in election held at the party's Secretariat in Awka and supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Chairman, SDP Governorship Primary Electoral Committee, Mrs Maggie Batubo, said that a total of 116 delegates were due to participate in the election but 115 were later accredited, 114 voted while three votes were void.
In an acceptance speech, Ekeleme said he was sure of victory, assuring that if voted to power, he would step up the state development, improve the existing infrastructure across 21 LGAs, as well as make youth and women empowerment, and agriculture as top priority.
Earlier, the SDP State Chairman, Mr Webster Okonkwo, said the party would use Anambra November 6 election to make a bold statement not only in Anambra, but across the South-East and Nigeria.
“We will win November 6 election and thereafter extend our hold to other South-East states and Nigeria”, he said.
