NCF Blasts PDP and other opposition Parties for not providing effective and constructive opposition to the ruling APC Party.
The chairman of People's Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Uche Secondus and other members of the National Executive Committee ( NEC) including other opposition parties have come under the fire of the Nigeria Conservative Forum (NCF) for failure to provide effective checks on the excesses of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The forum after its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in FCT Abuja, capital of NIgeria decried lack of proper and constructive opposition by the PDP and other opposition parties in the country.
In the communique signed by the leader of NCF, Dede Uzor A. Uzor, the group urged all other Political parties especially the PDP to rise up to the occasion or their leaderships should step aside with immediate effect so that others can take over and offer credible leadership to opposition parties.
The forum said: "It seems the opposition has been bought over.
That is why Nigeria is dying gradually and they are not saying or doing anything.Nigeria is in a very critical condition and continues to detoriorate but these opposition parties are not doing anything concrete"
They lamented that 10 years ago, a bag of foreign rice was sold for N7, 500, today, a bag of locally made rice is sold N27,500.an increase of a whopping N20,000.
The forum said 10 years ago naira was about N16 per a dollar but today it sells N52 per a dollar, stressing that there is every likelihood that it would sky-rocket to M1000 per a dollar in the next three to six months.
"Our naira is now like ordinary toilet tissue. All these small denominations like 10, 20, 50, 100 don't have value anymore and they are going into extinction.
You can't use them to by anything. Generally, everything has gone up by 500 percent, both locally and imported goods. Garri which used to be our cheapest staple food is no more at the reach of the people".
The forum said it is shockng that in the face of all this, the leadership of PDP and other Political parties were busy enjoying their ill-gotten wealth in hotels.
They recalled that when Lai Mohammed was the anchor of APC propaganda machine under former President Goodluck Jonathan,he gave PDP and Jonathan's Presidency sleepless nights.
The group accused PDP leadership and others of not being aggressive because of corruption they have soiled themselves with, alleging that most of if not all of them live in hotels like Kings while NIgerians are dying of hunger and poverty.
The leader of group said that Nigeria has become a banana republic with no defined economic policy and programmes.
"Nobody knows the foreign policy of this regime, long-term and short term economic policy of this government. We don't know the direction of our economy in the next three years.
We are sliding into stateless state, a failed nation" he said.
