Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, has received "Excellence in Strategic Communication" award from the Rotary Club of Amawbia Sports City.
The Managing Director of ABS, Sir Chido Obidiegwu received the award on behalf of the organization during the installation of the pioneer president of the club, Dr. Jude Nwokike at Amawbia, Awka South LGA.
Speaking after receiving the award, the ABS boss said it was as a result of the disruptive agenda of the Soludo administration that encourages thinking outside the box.
He assured that the station will continue to serve the interest of the masses, especially in education, and support the club through publicity.
Earlier, the Chairman on the occasion and former Director General of Standard Organization of Nigeria, SON, Rotarian Dr. Ikem Odumodu, who explained that every money donated in and to the club are well spent and accounted for, called for more support from public-spirited individuals, adding that the club will continue to invest in education, health care, peace building, among others
On his part, the pioneer President of Rotary Club of Amawbia Sports City, Dr. Nwokike said the club has come to stay in Amawbia community, and is poised to making people aware of the fact that God created man to make the world happy and healthy.
The traditional ruler of Umuawulu, Igwe Dr. Joel Egwuonwu, and his Ifitedunu counterpart, Igwe Dr. Emeka Ilouno, among others, also received awards at the event attended by the Senator representing Anambra Central, Chief Victor Umeh, Member representing Awka North and South Federal Constituency, Professor Lilian Orogbu.
Ms Gloria Obuekwe a member of the club urge the public to have good spirit as seen in Rotary through engagement in environmental health, disease prevention and control and peaceful resolution of any type of crisis.
Obuekwe said that Rotary prides its self in quality service to humanity in diverse areas and appealed to the public to be charitable as a social responsibility
Among the dignatiaries that graced the event includes Chief Dennis Ekemezie, Mr Chika Ekwueme,Mr Tochi Amalu, all are past Assistant Governor in D9142.
