Ogbunka,(Anambra) April 28, 2024The out- going Commissioner of Police, Anambra Command, Mr Aderemi Adeoye, has continued to receive warm farewell greetings from citizens and stakeholders of the state.
The Traditional Ruler of Ogbunka Community,in Orumba South Local Government Area, Anambra State, Igwe (Dr) JohnMark Anyaocha, has conferred on Adeoye a chieftain ency title as Dike-Ochioha1 of Ogbunka Kingdom.
Anyaocha in an interview with newsmen on Sunday in Ogbunka said that the community decided to recognise and honour the CP for his professionalism in handling security challenges in the state.
The traditional ruler said that the CP applied tactical wisdom in handling security issues in the community that could have lead to killings of innocent people and the people were happy about his sense of judgement.
He said that his actions and ways of handling security matters and achieving enviable results earned him the title "Dike- Ochioha 1 of Ogbunka kingdom.
" Some months ago,Ogbunka community was boiling as police made many indiscriminate arrests and the cabinet approached him for clarifications, he listened to us.
"He said that his men will carry out thorough investigations and if what you reported is true, be assured of justice and after the whole investigations the wrongly held people were released.
"The Cp did not stop at that, knowing that our community shares boundaries with other states he increased surveillance in the community and the act yielded huge security results and peace returned to our community," he said.
Anyaocha said that the community followed the state government procedures of conferment of chieftaincy title on people as well as to support the government adoption of Adeoye as an Anambra citizen.
He said that another core reason is to show that there is reward for good work and to encourage other public servants to be on top of their duties no matter where they are working.
Chief Timothy Ikedinmma, a titled chief in the community, confirmed the description of the traditional ruler about Adeoye as a police officer that has a listening ear and passionate about his work.
Ikedinmma said that before he became Anambra CP, some time in 2023 around April, that police arrested lot of people and detained them without trial for over 6 months and when the community approached the CP he paid attention to them.
" He investigated and discovered that those people were arrested in error and he ordered their release, that really gladden the hearts of the community.
"Adeoye is an angel sent by God to come and work in police force to right the wrong impression pf police on minds of the people, he is a committed officer with integrity, his humility is amazing.
" I have worked in public service and retired, i have not seen a police officer of his make, you cannot compromise him, he saves the vulnerable and respects his profession," he said.
Chief Ikechukwu Chukwubeze, the President-General of the community said that Adeoye is a fine police officer and deserves more than the title.
Chukwubueze said that he redefine police image and proved that there are lots of good officers in police force and he urged Anambra command to sustain the legacy left by Adeoye.
Mrs Rose Igbokwe, a native of the community commended the high level of professionalism with which the CP carried out his works in state as commissioner.
"Our fathers and husbands tells his stories always especially the area of not accepting gratifications while doing his work, he made me to love police work again," she said.
Newsmen reports that most people who spoke to her described Adeoye as a highly accomplished law enforcement officer with a distinguished career running over decades.
Adeyoe was described as officer who epitomises excellence in law enforcement with remarkable track record of service and commitment security within communities.y
He had his pull- out parade on April 27 and will hand over to the next officer on May 1.as he joined police force on May 1,1989
