Don't spend time on idle talks or social media chats- Okoli warns students

The Provost, Federal College of Education (Technical) Umunze (FCET), Professor Tessy Okoli, Saturday, warned the newly admitted students of the institution against spending much time on idle talks or social media chats if they want to graduate in flying colours. 


Okoli, who was speaking at 35th/13th joint matriculation ceremony for NCE, Degree and PDE students 2023/2024 academic session, observed that there are some positive aspects of social media students could equally explore.


According to her, FCET Umunze, was renowned for her excellence and would never relent in building students capacities and skills to fit into the society as change markers and solution providers.


She recalled that the citadel of learning had continue to grow from strength to strengths since it establishment by Decree 4 of 1986 and Decree 6 of 1993 as amended. 


The college, it would be recalled, took-off at campus 2 in 1989/1990 academic session but started full academic program on May 10, 1990 with only 70 students.


" From 5 schools the college grew to 10 with thousands of students. Administrative structures of the college was moved from campus 2 to the main campus on Dec 22, 2015," she noted.


Factcheckng reports that the Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, which the institution is affiliated to for Degree programmes, Professor Charles Esimone, was represented by Professor Vivian Nwaogbo of Faculty of Education. Several staff of the college present at the event were the Deputy provost, Dr T.A.K. Nzeribe, Registrar Dr. B. C. Nkah, Dean School of Agric and Home Economics Dr.Matthew Nwike, Dean school of Education Dr. Sixtus Unigwe, Dean school of Business Education Dr.Ochuba C.D, former college PRO Dr. Emma Mbogu, Director CEP MRS.Okpalike B. I. among others.
