Rotary club International trains 200 new officers on leadership skills



The Rotary International, District 9142,has organised a club Officers Training(COT) for 200 new club officers in preparation for new rotary year, July 1.


Newsmen reports on Sunday in Awka that Rotary International  is an organisations that prides in service to humanity 


Mrs Joan Emegoakor, a financial expert, the Districts Secretary 2024/ 2025, elect said the training is purposefully designed to equip the new leaders on their responsibilities to the society as Rotarian.


Emegoakor, said that rotary club is interested in creating and growing leaders with necessary skills to take positive responsibilities in the society.


She said that rotary get seasoned facilitators every year to give new ideas and train members who in turn creates positive change in their work places.


She said that the training if well activated will create a self development on how to positively grow socially to shun social vices.


Mr Chidi Obiudu, a senior staff with Ministry of Works in  Anambra, elected to serve as Assistant Governor designate of zone 13, said that  the training is important because emphasis  is laid on honesty and  integrity of officers.


He said with the training on need to serve selflessly people will see the essence to be nation builders and partner with government in reducing poverty through gain knowledge in economic development 


” This training was to equip the incoming leaders with the knowledge of what they need to know and need for good leadership in any strata.


Obiudu said that, the training gives the public sense of social direction in any organisation they find themselves and promote transparency in their daily lives 


Mr Alex Arinze,the President elect of Awka Smith town, described the training as one of the core program of  rotary international that exposes member core values of life.


Arinze said that the members are reminded to be guided by  4Way Test of Rotary International during officers training.


“The 4WayTest  is the Bible of Rotary which guides and reminds  members on the need to do  right behavior in all their human endeavor.


He said that the training helps to equip the incoming leaders to be focus , also to operates within the acceptable limits of operations.


“Rotary club is all about integrity and honesty and sincerity  of purpose in all transactions.


“If any members fails the integrity yest at any point of service the member will be relieved of the post immediately after investigations.


” Membership of Rotary is for men and women, and youths and children of great value and integrity,” he said.


Dr Nwabufor Nwankwo, president elect of RC Awka,said that the organisation is all about service to humanity in all aspect of life.


He said  in rotary lessons like being honest in dealing with people that crosses ones part in daily actions, humility is a another value one gets in the family of rotary because seasoned men are members.


Nwankwo who is a Permanent Secretary in Anambra State government said that he would domesticate all the virtues of rotary club in localities where he finds himself.


” Rotary makes everyone to feel valued as people of different walks of life can be found in the group.


He said  that in his year that he will focus on environment, child education, economic  development, mental mortality amongst others.


“Rotary club is an avenue for selfless services, members  focus on the areas of services to humanity, taking health very serious,” he said.


Mr Tochi Amalu,in his presentation tittled ” The Does and Don’t of Public: explained that the training  will guide the officers on public relations.



He said that the members would gain knowledge on how to maintain the personalities and image of the club so as to market the club well which translate to daily life of the officers.


Amalu said that ,the character or attitude of individuals or organisations presented to the public creates a lot  of impression about the personality or organisation.


” The training is very developmental not only for the services of the officers but for their personal social development.


” I learnt public speaking in rotary and other skills that have enhanced my life today from various training conducted by  the club,hence the annual training and seminar.


He urged the club leaders to promote rotary activities in their various locals to increase community understanding and strengthen the ability to improve lives around the world.


He stated that some of the ways of increasing the Public image of rotary club are being good ambassadors, telling the rotary stories and following the right branding.


“A good Rotarian must communicate the image of the club with professional look to create better and good image” he said.


News  correspondent who covered the training reports that  COT  is mandatory before any member can assume office as a leader in rotary international.
