Non-State Actors under the auspices of Anambra State Anti-Corruption Strategy (ANSACS) with support from Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) II programme funded by the European Union and implemented by International IDEA, have unveiled a-four years strategies to eliminate corruption in the State.
The ANSACS strategy, which would span through 2024 to 2028, provided key events, stakeholders and actions geared towards realising the objectives in collaborations with the media, civil society organisations, duty bearers and other stakeholders.
Speaking at one day review, validation and adoption of ANSACS 2024-2028 Strategy, the Anambra State Head of Service, Barr Theodora Igwegbe, said the State government was committed towards eradicating corruption to a barest minimal if not totally eradicated.
Igwegbe, who urged supports of the non State actors to the fight against corruption, stressed that corruption impacts negatively on socioeconomic development of the society.
On her part, the Anambra State Coordinator, RoLAC II programme, Dr Josephine Onah urged the non-State Actors to assess the document and ensure that all key strategies required to combat corruption were in place.
Onah, who said the organisation was determined to mobilise stakeholders for action against corruption, maintained that sensitisations, public education, value reorientation and others were needed by all to inspire people to change from how they think or reason to positive reasoning which amounts to doing things positively.
Earlier, the ANSACS Consultant, RoLAC II programme, Dr Ada Chidi-Igbokwe commended the ANSACS team for their achievements so far and demanded for more collaborative actions to ensuring that corruption is eliminated in Anambra State and Nigeria at large.
High points of the occasion was adoption of ANSACS 2024-2028 strategy, and one year action plan of CSOs/Media Accountability and Anticorruption Initiative (CMAAI), a coalition of civil society and media groups formed amidst the ANSACS implementation.
