The Super Eagles midfielder, Mr Frank Onyeka has taken a bold step towards encouraging budding talents in Abia state.
The International player in his bid to give back to the society, donated One Million naira to three grassroots football clubs in his home town Isuochi in Umunneochi local government area of Abia state.
The Isuochi born midfielder who joined German bundesliga side Augsburg on loan from English premier league side Brentford in the beginning of the current season donated the cash to the clubs as an encouragement for their grassroots football activities in Isuochi town.
Onyeka ,an experienced box to box midfielder and ever present in the Nigeria national team was among the key players who helped the Super Eagles of Nigeria to qualify for the upcoming Afcon 2025 that will be held in Morroco.
The clubs that are to benefit from the largesse are: Bohold FC, Temper Coolers FC and Umuobasi FC. Who is the current Champion of just concluded Unity cup 2024 season held in Mbala where Onyeka hails from.
The experienced player also donated a set of Augsburg customized jersey to Bohold FC for winning Ambassador Eziaha Uwaezuoke Football Championship first edition held in 2024.
The Super Eagles Player while presenting the jerseys through his Uncle Mr Obinna Eze , at Chrisnak stadium Amuda, assured the youths of Isuochi of his maximum support to see that more Frank Onyekas are discovered and nurtured from the area.
Speaking on behalf of the benefiting grassroots football clubs, the President of Bohold FC Umunneochi, Eze Onyemaechi Micheal thanked the Super Eagles star player for his kind gesture and also prayed that God will continue to lift him higher in his football career.
Our Correspondent reports that it was a moment of jubilation for both the grassroots players, their supporters and other stakeholders, including a native of the community, Comrade Uche Ndeke- the Secretary, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Anambra state.
