Ulogu in, Nwammuo out, as Anambra NIPR ends 2026 AGM, summit

The Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Friday, inaugurated Dr Ngozi Ulogu to pilot affairs of her Anambra State Chapter as Chairman following expiration of the tenure of Professor Professor Angela Nwammuo.



Ulogu, a Fellow of the Institute and lecturer in the Department of English Language and Literature, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, was appointed to Chair the Presidential Interim Executive Committee alongside Dr Nelson Omenugha, Vice Chairman; Dr Chinedu Ekweonu, Secretary; and Dumaka Henry Ekemezie, Asst Secretary/ICT Officer.


Others were Comrade Ogemdi Ozoemenam, Public Relations Officer; CSP Josephine Ihunwo, Welfare Officer; Mrs Nonye Nwokoye, Financial Secretary; Chinenye Anyakora, Treasurer; Chinyere Fessy Okoye, Auditor; Prof Angela Nwammuo, Ex-Officio 1; Prof Kate Omenugha, Council Member, ex-Officio 2 and Prof Cornelius Ukwueze, ex-Officio 3.


The appointment was announced at the 2026 Annual General Meeting/Summit held in Awka, Anambra State capital and attended by the National President/Chairman of the Council, Dr Ike Neliaku and other council members and fellows.


Neliaku, who said the appointment would be for a period of six or maximum of one year, charged them to among other things, conduct a credible chapter election devoid of rancour, noting that "If after one year they fail to perform, they will refund us one year."


In her acceptance speech, Dr Ngozi Ulogu thanked the President for the honour and promised to deliver on her mandate for the overall good and sustained growth and visibility of Anambra Chapter of NIPR.


Speaking on the 2026 Chapter AGM, Chief Uche Udedibia, who has been a fellow of the institute for 26 years, asked the newly inaugurated committee to build on its successes for a better outing next time.


Earlier speaking, the immediate past Chairman of the institute and former Head of Department of Mass Communication, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam, Professor Angela Nwammou, thanked members for their support throughout her two tenures which started from March 2022 to March 2026, and urged them to support the next executive.


FactcheckNg reports that the AGM was officially flagged off by the Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who among other things, sought the support of the institute in his administration war against indiscipline and moral decadence in the society.
