Onunkwo vows to industrialise Anambra South by sponsoring bills on improved power supply, others

Anambra South Senatorial candidate of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, Tuesday, vowed to facilitate industrialisation of the country if elected through sponsorship of bills and motions for establishment of a power station, improve power supply, infrastructure and security.


Onunkwo, who is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Seahorse, stated this during an interaction with members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anambra State Council that were on a facility tour of his company, Seahorse in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Local Government Area (LGA), noting that improve power supply would provide enabling environment for businesses to thrive.


The Council led by the State Chairman, Comrade Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu led the State Working Commitee and other members of the union on the facility tour which was part of activities marking the 2026 NUJ Press Week and 35 anniversary. 


According to him, mitigating insecurities and provision of good road networks would reduce the pains businesses go through to produce, while increasing their access to raw materials, customers and distribution of goods and services, especially in Southeast geopolitical zone. 


He said he would also sponsor bills on Igb




a Boyi, Igbo apprenticeship modal as well as make laws to enable the federal government establish industrial cluster stations, provide credit loans to businesses and entrepreneurs, thereby encouraging people to learn trade, invest and join to develop the country.


Onunkwo, who regretted that many businesses have been shutdown across the country due to several challenges which according to him, were surmountable, argued that mitigating them would enable businesses to survive, encourage more investors, create jobs and fight insecurities.


The Senatorial hopeful further reiterated that he would never stop offering scholarship to students across communities and the 7 LGAs within the constituency and beyond due to his believe on empowering the younger generation through education.


On why he was leaving his business empire to join politics, Onunkwo said he needed bigger platforms to extend his philanthropic gestures beyond Ekwusigo Council Area as well as contribute to the national development.


Onunkwo further emphasised on numerous projects he has across the 7 Council Areas in Anambra South include tackling of insecurity through job creations, mitigating the erosion menace, boosting the business potentials and industrialisation.


He further expressed confidence in winning the January 2027 senatorial poll because according to him, the masses have expressed in him, even as those met during his attendance of over 200 August meeting confirmed that they are yearning for him for a breath fresh air.


Onunkwo further used the opportunity to called on all men of goodwill to join politics and assist in stepping down good governance and dividends of democracy around the nooks and crannies so that society will not fall under the wrong hands. 


Meanwhile, speaking after the tour, the State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu said he was impressed over the good working relationship between Onunkwo and his staff and urged him to sustain the tempo as history would remember him for him.
