By Okechukwu Onuegbu

The National Youth Service Corps (NYCS), Thursday, extended the service year of four corps members to three extra months as a total of 3,704 of 2019 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 members concluded their one year mandatory service in Anambra state.

The Anambra state Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Kehinde Aremu, who disclosed this after touring some centers in the state, said the four corps members got extention of service due to various offences.

Aremu, while congratulating the over 3000 successful corps members for the meritorious service to the nation, maintained that the passing out ceremony was low-keyed and organised across Local government areas under strict observerance of the social distancing and other Covid-19 directives in compliance with the World Health Organisation WHO, standard.

“We’ve gone round all the centers. There was strict compliance to the Covid-19 protocol. I also want to assure you that all our officers were sent out to participate in the certificate distribution. One other thing we’ve done is to stagger the distribution of the certificate. We allocated days to each of the corps members across the local governments depending on the numerical strength in each area,” he maintained.

According to him, the corps members were free to travel out of the state as the Director General of the scheme, Shuaibu Ibrahim had secured permission from the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu to that effect.
