Keke operators in Anambra risk sanction if fail to observe COVID-19 protocols

The Keke operations in Anambra State have been urged to strictly observe Covid-19 protocols or risk clamping down by its State chairman.

The chairmam of Keke operators' Union in the Anambra State, Tricycle Owners Association( TOAN) Barr. Sylvester C. Obiora, who gave the directive in Awka, the state capital urged the Keke riders to fully observe Government directives to avoid being exposed to the wrath of the security operatives who enforce the observation of Covid-19 protocols.

He said  obedience to this directive has become  imperative to avoid giving room to the security operatives or the Government agency that enforces the observance of Covid-19 protocols.

The compliance, said Barr. Obiora, would help reduce the spread of  the virus in the state.

He also directed that Keke operators should ensure  their passengers wear face masks because if they fail, they (the operators) would bear  the consequences.

"We cannot give room for Government to clampdown on us . The Covid -19  measures have been in operations and anybody who violates this  directive will have his Keke seized for seven days at first instance" said the chairmam.

He also warned  those hoodlums extorting Keke operators and their passengers in the guise of revenue generation  to henceforth stay clear off his members or face the wrath of law enforcement agents..

Obiora particularly thanked Governor Willie Obiano and the Commissioner for Transport Chief Afam Mbanefo for giving his members the opportunity to operate freely without harassment and intimidation.

The chairmam equally commended the newly promoted  Assistant Inspector -General of Police (AIG), John Abang, who was the immediate.

Commissioner of Police in the State, whose synergy with other security agencies provided conducive atmosphere and encouraged  Keke operators to  freely carry out their duties within the State.

He said " we wish him well in his future assignments as he moves over as AIG in charge of Zone 4 Benue  State".
