Group trains over 200 Anambra youths on shoemaking, make up, confectioneries

Osisioma foundation, a Non-governmental Organisation, has commenced training for over two hundred youths drawn from the three communities within Njikoka 1 State Constituency in Anambra State.


The training, sponsored by Chief Chukwuemeka Nwachukwu, a House of Assembly Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Njikoka One constituency, is holding at Enugwu-Ukwu, Nawfia and Enugwu-Agidi.



Osisioma foundation, it was learnt, is training the youth for free on shoemaking, beautification and confectionaries with a view to making them self reliant and employers of labour.


Nwachukwu, who spoke while flagging off the event for 18 villages in Enugwu-Ukwu, added that the programme would help to reduce the rate of unemployment, crime and vices amongst the youths.


Also speaking, the Director of the Foundation, Mr Wonder Obi, disclosed that it was divided into three batches; A, B, and C and being participated by interested and registered youths from the various communities.


“We are going to hold  same  skill training  of batch B at Nwafia and C at Enugwu-Agidi communities as soon as the Enugwu-Ukwu  program is concluded  respectively,” he said.


According to him, trainees were professionals at their field of endeavours, and participants would be empowered to takeoff at the end of the training.


He urged youths yet to register for the program to kindly avail themselves of the opportunity for a brighter tomorrow.


Contributing, the tutors, Mr Chidera Okafor teaching shoemaking; Miss Chioma Ajekwu and Miss Chiamaka Obumma ( tutors for beauty make up); and Miss Nkechi Okafor (confectionaries), commended the foundation and the sponsor of the programme for remembering the youth, assuring that the communities would enjoy the impact at the end. 


In a related programme, Mr Nonso Okoye had orgainsed  a non political skill acquisition and empowerment program  tagged  “Umunri  Empowerment program” which commenced on Aug. 30 to close on Sept. 10.


He said that the community was totally designed as a community development program meant to touch lives of the poor and charity to non community member's who lives in the town.


Okoye said that the program is totally free and it involves youths, children women and men as long as the person shows interest in all their programs.


He said that visitors who resides in the communities  of the four communities that made up Umunri  are inclusive.


He said that the sole goal was to make the  Ununri towns namely Enugwu-Ukwu, Nwafia, Agu-Ukwu and Enugwu-Agidi  free of criminality since idleness breeds crimes.


Okoye said that the programs to be taught includes website Design and Digital Marketing ,Phones  and computer repairs, production of soaps.


He said that  paints, sanitister, creams, catering, cinematography , barbing, wig making , event management  and decoration , generator and Entrepreneurship etc, are part of the training which involves all ages.


Okoye urged the residents of the four communities who are not employed to avail the themselves of the rare chance to better themselves economically and socially.


“Acquiring  skills is a tool to deal with insecurity of all types including poverty of the mind, so I appeal to our people not to joke with this program.


” I pray that they  attend in their numbers to come and go home a skilled person ready to explore the world with knowledge garnered from the training.


Speaking in separate interviews, some of the participants, Miss Chisom Chiadikobi , Nche Imegwu, and Kenechukwu Okoye respectively commended the two orgainsers of the skill training and promised to pay attentive attention to the teaching.


Mrs Grace Anagor, the Vice President, Aboatulu kindred meeting in Avomimi village of the community commended the Umunri through the Oracle foundation and Osisioma foundation foundation for their  humanitarian services, and urged other foundations in the community to help make the community  develop  through introduction of programs that would  meaningful engage the people.
