Maduka bags NBA outstanding award in Anambra

Anambra State born philanthropist, Dr Godwin Maduka, Monday, bagged Outstanding Personality Award in recognition of his contributions to the growth and development of judiciary in the State and Nigeria at large.


Speaking at the occasion, Chairman of the Award Night, Sir Anene Ubah, commended Maduka for building  Magistrate court, a High court, and well furnished Judges quarters for the use of the state judiciary which he handed over to the judiciary years back.


Ubah also commended the zeal and synergy that exist in Awka Branch of NBA, affirming that Anambra lawyers are making waves in the country.


 Responding, Maduka, a frontline politician and governorship aspirant in Anambra November  6 election under the platform of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said he would not relent in supporting the judiciary as it was last hope of the voiceless.


He urged the NBA to quicken dispensing justice to all no matter their social status, adding that he would give a face lift to the judiciary by providing enabling environments to aid speedy dispensation of justice, as well grant financial autonomy to judiciary.


Earlier, Mr Ekene Okonkwo, the Awka Branch Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) reassured the branch commitment to ensure that legal practitioner’s in the branch acts professionally  at all times as a voice to the voiceless.


The occasion was graced by famous Nigerian human rights activist, Chief Mike Ozekhome , Professor of law, Omari Omaka, and Senate minority leader, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, among others.
