Market leader raises alarm over possible fire outbreak at Onitsha

Mr. Sunday Obinze the president general of head bridge Market Onitsha has raised an alarm of a possible fire outbreak as a result of presence of about 200 tankers loaded with fuel and gas which are packed at the Onitsha axis of Niger bridge which is directly opposite their market and appealed to the Anambra State government, Federal authorities as well as security agencies to immediately come up and evacuate these tankers to prevent any possible fire outbreak around the area.


According to Newsmen who went to the scene to monitor the situation, the tankers all laden with fuel were packed by suspected members of NUPENG south east region who sources told newsmen are trying to embark on strike.


Obinze who insisted that the presence of these tankers with fuel are a great danger to the market told newsmen that there is urgent need for these tankers to be evacuated and located to another place as his market cannot afford to witness another fire outbreak.


Said he, “am appealing to the authorities concern and the state government to urgently intervenes and order that these tankers be evacuated, as far as our market is concerned we are saying that the presence of these tankers are constituting danger to the well being of the market.
