Onitsha main market stakeholders comprising of both serving and past leaders of various lines in the market has made a passionate appeal to Gov Willie Obiano and prominent leaders of the ruling APGA to compel the caretaker executives of the market and the state commissioner of commerce and wealth creation Chief Uchenna Okafor to Immediately conduct the market democratic election before Nov.6th governorship poll in the state to win the hearts of majority of traders who are eagerly waiting for it adding that the democratic executives will be in better position to mobilize traders of the market for Prof. Charles Soludo the APGA Governorship candidate more than the current caretaker executives.
Making this appeal while addressing a press conference in Onitsha, last Wednesday, the spokesperson of the stakeholders Chief Obi Egbuna a former chairman of the market flanked by Chief Okwudili Onuorah, Celestine Akidi Philip Nsude, Emenike Orji among others said they are appealing to the governor to conduct the market election now to satisfy the desire of most traders in the market who are eagerly awaiting for it adding again that this will capture the hearts of majority in the market as the democratic executives will in turn mobilize to ensure that Prof Soludo the APGA flag bearer will be massively voted for.
While noting that most of them are in love with Gov Obiano administration for what he had accomplished in the state especially building of an international cargo airport , and will like APGA to continue, after him, Egbuna further appealed to Gov Obiano to ensure the expeditions of the conduct of the election within September this year as other markets like Onitsha Head bridge, building materials International markets Ogidi as well as others has conducted their own promising that any executive that will be elected by the market must work with the state government.
Said he, “all of us want the market block, votes to be delivered to APGA during the governorship election,caretaker leadership cannot achieve what a democratic body will achieve, we did it under Ex Gov Chinwoke Mbadinuju and also did it under Gov Peter Obi, we done it again under this administration and will want to repeat it again for APGA candidate Prof Soludo, we are begging Gov Obiano to Immediately order that this election be conducted before Nov. 6th and forget whatever lies the current caretaker is brandishing about”.
