A Catholic Priest, Rev Fr Peter Ndianefo, has identified wise use of wealth to serve God and humanity as one of the cardinal means of preparing for heavenly race.
He explained that acquisition of wealth should be seen as a privilege from God to touch lives especially the needy in the society for posterity sake.
Rev Fr Ndianefo, who is the Vicar, St Francis Catholic Church, Enugwu Ukwu,Njikoka Local Government Area gave the admonition during a Thanksgiving Mass for a successful end of mourning period for Pa Dominic Anaebonam Obiekezie.
While condemning excessive emotional attachment to wealth in the society, he reminded christians about vanity of earthly treasures which must be left behind on death.
According to him, people should rather use their wealth, beauty, time and talent to glorify God and uplift humanity while still alive.
"Anything you love more than God is your idol.If you are wealthy, look around your environment and find out who you can help with your wealth.It is meant to be used to help life while we prepare for eternity."
He spoke against spate of ritual killings in the society, wondering what profit one could derive from wild chase for wealth and worship of wealth prevalent among young people.
Reflecting on life and times of the deceased, Prof Theresa Obiekezie, daughter, immediate past Commissioner for Youth Empowerment and Creative Economy, said her father was a very knowledgeable man whose death she was yet to believe it happened.
She described the mourning period as quite not so easy with the family, but hopeful to overcome the reality of his demise even as she believed all glory should be given to God at all times.
According to her, Pa Obiekezie concentrated in building human infrastructure as a civil servant and never had the crave for wild acquisition of wealth.
The First Son of deceased, Dominic Obiekezie Jnr,expressed optimism that the end of the mourning period would sign post good tidings for the family.
He vowed to sustain good legacies left behind by his father and protect the image of the family which were what he fought hard to achieve during his life time.
One of his Sons in Law, Kingsley Ogoemeka, said he missed his wise counsels which contributed to shape his life positively.
A Chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA) in Njikoka, Chidi Ibemeka, thanked God for keeping the family safe throughout the mourning period, just as he believes they would do better and a be strengthend by God.
