Active Search Results Unizik Alumni partners Anambra State government to improve education, youth development By Okechukwu Onuegbu The Lagos branch of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alumni Awka, Friday, struck partnership with the Anambra State government with a view to improve the course of education and youth development. The National President of the Association, Mrs Amaka Obi, who disclosed this when the executive paid a courtesy call on Dr Nelson Omenugha, the Special Adviser (SPAD) Youth Empowerment Programme to Anambra Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, said the chapter had all it takes to help the state position and uplift education. Obi, who also congratulated Dr Omenugha, a worthy alumnus of Unizik on his appointment, encourage him to be a worthy representative of the institution. The president of the Lagos alumni said the chapter had previously donated a convince structure to the university and desired to sponsor vulnerable youths to school through the instrumentality of the youths channel “The office of the youths program and empowerment would best select those indigent youths to sponsor without favour and that is our reason to go through the office to achieve  the goal. “We do not want to select persons to based on sentiment but with the government they have their modalities to select persons for the gesture, all we need is the names of the persons  to support because education is key to development of a nation,” she said. Also speaking, Miss Deka Ezeadili, the National Directorate of Social of Unizik alumni and member Lagos chapter, said the chapter decided to give back to the society that made them what they are today. “We go out and catch the fishes and brings it home for our indigent youths to enjoy the bounties  to become better persons,”she said. She emphasized that the chapter desires to key into competitive  and sustainable youths programme initiatives of the state government to ensure that the youths are kept out of social ills. Responding, Dr Nelson Omenugha, Special Adviser (SPAD) Youth Empowerment Programme to Anambra Governor, Prof Charles Soludo, said the government was committed to generate more resourceful youths to fight poverty. According to Omenugha, the government was open to any group of persons or organisation that desires to partner the state on youth empowerment and  wealth generation, because the governor was passionate about youths growth and development in every possible progressive activities. He assured the chapter that his position would be used to promote youths creative ideas that would be translated into job creation to increase the internally Generated Revenue of the state.
