Anambra wins more medals, sets for finals in 200 metres, as NYG hots up

Team Anambra State contingents currently participating at the ongoing National Youth Games at Asaba Delta State have continued to excel and wax stronger as the sporting events hots up.

The team's contingent, Master Goodluck Njoku, on Thursday, won a gold medal after defeating Ehiziube Joshua of Team Delta in the finals with 6-0.

 Similarly, a combat fighter, Miss Ukamaka Ejikeme, also on Thursday, proved another point of capacity as she won a bronze medal in Karate for Female Kumite (+47kg) class.

The team's contingents, for male Beach Volleyball, Masters Henry Etido and Onyebuchi Omenka equally scaled through semi finals to the finals where they would engage Team Delta for the Gold medal match.

In 200 Metres semi finals for girls, Miss Lucy Nwankwo, finished first in Heat 3 where she ran in Lane 3; while Miss Oluebube Ezechukwu finished second running in Lane 5 in Heat 2.

For Karate (Male Kumite), Master Goodluck Njoku has scaled through to the Finals after winning four of his fights in the -50kg class.

The team had since the game started nine medals, which included three Gold, four Silver and two Bronze. The team won gold in taekwondo (Individual Poomsae) through Chibuikem Oranye; Taekwondo (Team Poomsae) - Chibuikem Oranye and Ogechi Elechi; and in High Jump (Female) - Favour Obiefuna. 

Others are Silver in Rugby (Female); Gymnastics (Artistic Gymnastics - Vault) - Ethel Jimoh; Chess (Male Singles event) - Chima Edeh; Chess (Male Singles event) - Victor Nwakohu; Bronze in Taekwondo (Individual Poomsae) - Ogechi Elechi; and Taekwondo (Female Kyorugi -33kg class) - Divine Egebe.
