Anambra State police command and the State House of Assembly, Friday, expressed willingness to partner the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) with a view to take State sports sector to a greater height.
The duo, while acknowledging the efforts of SWAN in developing sports through objective reporting, averred that they would not only collaborate in organising sporting events but to also legislate, implement and safeguard activities geared towards it and participants.
The State police commissioner, Mr Aderemi Adeoye, who disclosed this while receiving the newly elected executive of SWAN during a courtesy call in his office, stressed that plans were on by his leadership, to organise a sporting events for all the security agencies as a uniting factor within the command.
The Speaker, Anambra State House of Assembly, Mr Somtochukwu Udeze, who also spoke while receiving the SWAN in his office, promised to make laws that would help sports journalists discharge their duties effectively, and without fear or favour.
Earlier at the visits, the Anambra State Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Mr Chimezie Anaso, underscored the importance and contributions of the two institutions in developing sports, and charged them to sustain the tempo.
