Anambra Institute over ₦100m prize for digital innovation start-ups

Anambra state government, Tuesday, said it would from November 25th to 29th, 2024 open entry for innovation start-ups centrering on digital health, renewable energy, e-commerce, agritech, fintech, environment, education among others.


The Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Innovation and Business Incubation, Ms Chinwe Okoli, who disclosed this at a press conference in Awka, urged Nigeria’s brightest startups to pitch solutions addressing critical societal challenges in various sectors.


According to her, the governor has instituted N100 million cash prize for the participants which are expected to come from government ministries, agencies, academic institutions, startups, and creators across sectors as detailed in their official website.


"Innovators both in Anambra and across Nigeria are eligible to apply and compete in the Battle4Solutions," she stated, adding that the governor has through the innovative district trained and empowered over 25,000 youths on deep technology skills to compete favourably in global market.


"Through programs like LevelUp Anambra and Code Anambra, we have trained over 25,000 youths on various deep technology skills preparing them for jobs in the global market-and many other them secure such jobs daily, while our SID Teen Digital Bootcamp cultivates a new generation of talented teens poised for future global impact.


She noted that the government has designated a 3.7-hectare plot of land, currently home to the Government House as the permanent site for SID.


She added that the governor has prioritised digital infrastructure, with over 2,000 km of fiber duct being laid across the state for last-mile Internet connectivity, while the Anambra State Startup Law, a domestication of the Nigerian Startup Act was underway to boost an environment that nurtures creativity, entrepreneurship, and sustainable economic growth.
