The Regent of Nri Kingdom, Prince Ikenna Onyesoh, has called for the immediate release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Prince Onyesoh made the demand during the 1026 Igu Aro Ndi Igbo celebration, a significant cultural event in the Igbo calendar. He emphasized that Kanu's continued detention despite court orders is unjust and potentially destabilizing.

The Regent encouraged youths to engage in farming, highlighting the importance of the planting season. He also stressed the need to establish and maintain history in institutions, urging the government to prioritize this aspect.

In his speech, Prince Onyesoh commended Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State for his efforts in securing lives and properties, as well as his infrastructure development initiatives.

The President General of the town, Chief Romanus Okafor, expressed his joy for the successful Igu Aro festival, describing it as a time for unity, thanksgiving, and seeking blessings for a bountiful harvest.

Dignitaries in attendance included Senator Uche Ekwunife, MASSOB members, CEO of Orange Securities, Barr. Kelvin Akunne, and others.

The event featured traditional music, dance, and cultural activities, showcasing the rich heritage of the Nri Kingdom.
