The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Wednesday, warned Anambra residents against engaging in double registration as the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise entered the fourth week in the State.
The exercise which stopped for the Anambra State gubernatorial poll held on November 8, 2025, resumed from January 5 to April 7th, 2026 with a total of 4423 already enrolled.
The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Mrs Queen Elizabeth Agwu, who revealed this at an interactive session with journalists, urged those whose permanent voters cards (PVC) were defaced, broken or lost to seek replacement rather than applying for new ones.
According to him, the CVR is for those who recently clocked 18 years or had no PVC while those with issues of lost or misplaced PVC should apply for replacement either by visiting the commission office or other registration centres.
"The CVR is to enable people who recently attained the age of 18 to vote in the 2027 general election. It started in Anambra State on January 5th and will end on April 7, 2026. We want you the media to mobilise people to participate. But no one should engage in double registration because it is an offence.
" And no matter how you go about, the system will detect and wipe it off. That is why some persons who enrolled for PVC failed to see them for collection. As of today, only 4423 persons have enrolled in the ongoing exercise, and we are encouraging more people to do so. But those whose own were misplaced, defaced or lost to apply for replacement. The same thing applies to those applying for transfers from polling unit or State to another," she added.
