Some governorship aspirants on Anambra State 2021 poll have condemned attacks meted on their colleague, Mr Valentine Ozigbo by yet to be identified thugs.


Hoodlums had gained entrance into  St. Andrew’s Parish field at Nnewi, Nnewi North LGA, on Saturday, destroyed some campaign posters and other facilities belonging to Ozigbo, a governoship aspirant of PDP when he was aware with his supporters staging a walk around the ancient city in an event tagged #Walk4Health.


Reacting to the attack, another PDP gubernatorial hopeful, Mr Godwin Ezeemo described it as barbaric and evil act not supposed to be mentioned in the state.


"Anambra State have gone beyond this show of shame on election related matters, we are one People with a unique purpose which should and must be seen in every sphere of our actions irrespective of whose interest you seek to protect,” Ezeemo frowned. 


He called on all aspirants to cautions their supporters against such act, noting that "one of the beautiful thing about our state is the desire and zeal by many aspirants who file out to contest election in the state, and this must be sustained with love and in the spirit of sportsmanship",  he added.



The philanthropist equally ussed the opportunity to call on youths to avoid being used to execute any form of evil plan, he equally called on the security deposit of the state to ensure that those who carried out such bad acts are brought to book.



Also speaking, Hon. Chris Azubogu, an indigene of Nnewi who is equally interested on the number one seat, asked the security agencies to swing into action in order to arest the perpetrators and bring them to book. 


Azubogu, who currently represents Nnewi north, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo federal constituency at the NASS, said he would have been part of the’ event if not for his scheduled ongoing LGA tour.

"My brother Val, I just read on the media of the condemnable act which in no way represents our party or our people. I stand with you to ensure that the culprits are brought to book. Just to assure of our regards Chris Azubogu,” he maintained.


On his part, the Senator representing Anambra South district, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, said he had contacted  the security agencies  to get to the root of the matter to avoid  ridiculing the peace loving people of Nnewi Town who according to him, were renowned for their hospitality and peaceful disposition. 


Ubah, who is also from Nnewi, described the thugs as agents of destabilization alien to Ndi Anambra and all parties contesting for gubernatorial primaries, urging them to observe the highest decorum in conduct and actions.
