Bridge-Head Market, one of the largest Market in Onitsha, Anambra State commercial nerve centre now wears a new look as the incumbent president general of the Market, Hon. Chinedu Ezekwike begins renovation of structures in the Market.
Hon. Ezekwike, the new appointed care-taker Chairman of the Market told journalists in Onitsha that he deemed it necessary to beautify the Market to attract more customers and decent environment so that traders and their customers could enjoy conducive business transactions.
According to him, " There is no magic I applied in doing on all these renovations. Our aim and objectives when we assumed duty was to give traders what they want and that is why we decided to make some changes. The renovations began from the main entrance of Bridge-Head gate. The gates and pillers have been reconstructed. From Ogbogwu line entrance to tools line and Oduami entrance gates were as well reconstructed.
The same way in our Hall,. There is also massive changes . We are currently doing a lot of infrastructure work in order to make the Hall look like modern Hall. We also have numerous work which we planned to execute in a near future" Said the PG.
Akwaeke of Umuchu as he fondly Called said he could be able to undertake such massive projects through little welfare they generated from their Market and saved.
He further identified Internet Services as their major challenges in the Market which he said he has written to MTN to install more Net Work Provider in their area to enable traders cope up with global modern business transaction.
" So, my appreciation goes to our solution Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his massive infrastructures development. I urge traders to ensure they pay their taxes and stallage fees promptly so that government could do more work. I thanked the Governor once again for awarded Niger Street road which I know that Bridge-Head Market traders would benefits"
He also praised Prof. Soludo for eradicated touts and illegal revenue collectors in the State, explaining that Bridge-Head Market was the first Market that implimented the order immediately government banned it.
" We made series of announcements in our Market to buttress government's order and because of that, these touts vamoosed from Bridge-Head Market though, we arrested one of them recently and handed him over to law enforcement agency"
