Njikoka Council chairman describes elderly molestation as a taboo




The Transition Committee Chairman, Njikoka LGA, Anambra State, Chief Clem Aguiyi, has described molestation of Mrs Theresa Nwaokaka by her daughter, Mrs Ukamaka Udugbo as a taboo.


Aguiyi, in an interview, on Saturday, said the Information which was seen trending on social media was a shock to him that a daughter could be very aggressive to her mother of about 75 years of age.


He said the video was confirmed to be true that Udugbo who is in her early 50’s of age could melt out such inhuman act against her mother.


The assault and molestation of Nwaokaka by her daughter Udugbo whom she is living with in her husband house is condenmable and assured that justice would be served.


“This is a vicious and unacceptable conduct which is capable of causing grevious harm to the elderly woman. Having a child at old age ought to be a benefit to the elderly but in this case it is a curse.


“The beating , kicking and molesting of Nwaokaka by her daughter for whatever reason is heart broken more so that the actor is the victim’s own biological daughter.


“Old people are weak and vulnerable and should be protected and nursed and not subjected to humiliation, verbal and physical abuse,” he added. 



Aguiyi said the action is higly condemnable and assured that the actions of the attacker will legally be handled as a deterrent to other people who may have intentions of such act.



According to him, the council has informed the Divisional police officer in charge of the town for the immidiate arrest of Udugbo to take necessary actions.



” She need to undergo medical examination to check if she is psychological fine.



Aguiyi warn all those that may be in the habit of assaulting vulnerable children and elderly people in the council to desist as their time is up because the law will not spare them.



He said that council and state would take up the care of the elderly woman and make arrangements to locate any old peoples home that will admit her .


Aguiyi said where it is difficult any alternative arrangements to provide her with a minder and other neccessary supports to make her life better at the expense of the council would be done.


He commended the Abagana Police Division for their swift action on the matter.
