Stop asking God to restore my sight, accept me the way I am, Man cries out

As a blind man, people often think or believe the best they can do for me is to pray and wish God could restore my sight... Unfortunately, these people are directly hurting and discriminating against me...  But after today,  I hope you stop praying and wishing for what I never requested or asked of you, as I never appreciated your  unsolicited intercession, not even for once.

One of the first things I did when I newly lost my sight, was to love myself first before anyone else could do, and to accept myself the way I am before anyone else could do.  Yes! I was smart enough to realize that I needed self-love and self-acceptance, so that I wouldn’t feel bad when people fail to love or accept me the way I am... Now, it’s already 15 years after I lost my sight to blindness and I never cared about who loves or  accepts me... It is a free world.

What many of you do not understand is that every human being is with one disability or the other. We have both visible and invisible disabilities - this means that there are some types that are not physical, yet you are with such disabilities.think of those things you have always wanted to do,  but can’t, owing to one bodily issue or the other. Carefully examine yourself and try to understand how you reason, think, or talk during a conversation, and if you have always made irrational or rational contributions?

Well, in one of my future posts, I’m going to outline various types of invisible disabilities that every human being suffer one time or the other in their lifetime, so that, before you open your mouth to tell God to restore my sight, I will  quickly remind you of your own disability. So, before you open your mouth to pray for me to regain my sight, I urge you to first tell whoever that is your God to show you mercy and take away your own disability.

Though, I hardly check through my inbox messages, but when I do, what I see there often breaks my heart. People who will leave their jobs and start flooding my inbox with things like: “Hello sir, when I heard that you lost your sight, I began to feel for you”. “I’m  standing on the power that is above all other powers and command that blindness to leave you right now!” My question is that, did they tell you blindness is holding me down? Even as you are praying for me to regain my sight, what really makes you think you are better than I am? Absolutely nothing! Even if you think you are better, just because you can see and hear, I would still not accept that you are any better. Yes! Even as a blind folk, I have talents, I have skills, I can speak, read, write, surf the internet, make online purchases, including booking a ride, flight tickets. And when it comes to formal learning, I’m well educated, even above average, I can debate on any legal or social issue, I can argue for or against any motion.  And when it comes to domestic activities, I can wash  clothes, prepare sumptuous meals, wash dishes, clean the house and the surrounding. And when it comes to the other room activities,  I can dress the bed and handle my woman  very well, you can go and verify from her.

The message is that, if you cannot support my life journey as a blind man, kindly leave me and mind your business, and if you think praying for me to regain my sight is the only support you can give me, I’m sorry, I don’t need it. And if it were God that asked you to pray for me, kindly  tell Him or Her to send my sight directly to me - ya enyekwala mmadu k’onye m biko.

To my future wife, if my blindness will become an issue before and after marriage, do not even bother coming my way, because you definitely do not need me and  I don’t need you either.

Finally, let me reiterate that  when you pray for a blind man to regain his sight, you are directly discriminating against him. Again, it shows your hatred for him, otherwise, you would have accepted and love him the way he is.
