Anambra State governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has reassured residents of peaceful and joyous Christmas and New Year festivities.
The State Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji, gave the assurance at 2024 Christmas Carols of lessons and praises hosted by the ministry in Awka, on Friday.
Onyenji, who explained that lots of activities have already been lined up by people and government throughout the Yuletide, wished Anambra residents, visitors and others eventful celebrations.
According to him, governor Chukwuma Soludo's administration has provided the infrastructural development, security and other enablement which would provide the residents and returnees with opportunities to merry.
He, therefore, urged the Anambra populace within and outside to be at liberty to return home to celebrate with their kits and kins, while bringing home their friends and investments for uplifting the State.
The commissioner expressed confidence that the ongoing Solution amusement parks, including existing private and public lesisure, events and tourism centres in the State would be bubbling throughout the period of festivities.
Also speaking, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Revd Paulinus Ezeokafor, while charging Christians to use the period to shower love to people, however, even as he asked people to embrace Christ and shun neo -paganism.
The event which featured hymns rendention, Christmas carols of nine lessons and others, was also attended by the State Chief of Staff, Mr Ernest Ezeajughi, and top government functionaries, including the State Chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Bishop Moses Ezedebego, among others.
